AIMS OF THE MILLENNIUM TRUST

Materialism, spiritual poverty and the loss of meaning in life have led many people to seek new perceptions and deeper values in their appreciation of the world.  The Millennium Trust is just one of dozens of groups now coming together to share this quest.  We are not attached to any particular tradition.  We make no special claims, we have no set agenda, no "message".  What we do have is an eagerness to penetrate beneath the surface of things to achieve an understanding of the world we live in and the rich legacy of those who have followed similar aims in the past.

The Trust was founded in 1988 in the UK.  It has established a forum for people who are interested in encouraging the pursuit of wisdom in the arts, sciences, education and commerce.  Our ambition is to sow the seeds of spirit within ourselves and to foster the growth of spirit within others.  Our aims are therefore unpretentious, but profound.

There are three lines of work pursued by the Trust.  First we organise our own public events which include regular lecture/dinner meetings.  At these, individuals pursuing their own lines of work are provided with a platform and an audience willing to listen to the truth of that work as the speaker sees it.  This is an opportunity often denied to those who normally have to accommodate their expressed views to the prejudices of a conventional community.  Other events in this area of work include concerts and recitals of music and poetry.

Second, we support projects submitted to the Trust, by providing free advice and help.  The Trust has contributed in this way to initiatives in the fields of education, the media, publishing, film and the performing arts.  Our one criterion in this line of work is that the activities we support should foster the communication of knowledge and the love of wisdom in our society.

Third, we study the principles that lead to a sufficiency of wealth, genuine well-being, and how the two may be harmonised.  It is intended that this study will enable the Trust to make a contribution to understanding the nature of a free society and the parts individuals play within it.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

All the work of the Trust is unpaid.  You can make a vital contribution to costs by becoming a Friend of Millennium.  Details can be found on our Friends page.  By attending our lectures and events and bringing others, you can provide highly valued encouragement to speakers and performers.  Millennium events are stimulating and sometimes controversial but they are always enjoyable.  If you would like further information, or if you would like to volunteer some time, or to participate in any other way, you can contact us by:
